UO Telephone Dialing Instructions:
Local Calls placed from Campus Lines

The University of Oregon Eugene campus has an area code 541, prefix 346-0000 extended to 346-9999, and prefix 681-0000 extended to 681-2999.

The University of Oregon Portland campus has an area code 503 and phone numbers are assigned from the prefix 412-0460 through 412-0479, prefix 412-3650 through 412-3809 and prefix 345-0440 through 345-0459. Calls made between the Eugene campus and the Portland Center (White Stag Building) should be dialed using the 5 digit extension number.

To call an extension on campus: Listen for dial tone, dial the five-digit extension.

To call the campus operator: Listen for dial tone, dial "0".

To report telephone malfunction:

• Departments: Report the malfunction to your departmental telephone coordinator. If coordinator is unavailable, dial 6-NETS.
• Residence Halls: Dial 6-7800 and leave your name, the number of the phone with the malfunction, the room number of that phone, the telephone jack number and a brief but precise description of the problem.
• Spencer View & Agate Apartments: Report the malfunction to the Telecommunications Office at 6-NETS.

To dial local off-campus calls: Listen for dial tone, dial 9 + number you are trying to reach. See chart below for local prefixes in the Eugene area. Note that Portland currently has local 10-digit dialing, and while Eugene currently has local 7-digit dialing, that will soon change to 10-digit dialing as well.
