Harassment and Threats

Threatening, abusive, obscene, or anonymous telephone calls constitute telephone harassment. If you receive such calls, you should hang up immediately. You should not talk to the caller, or give out information about yourself, or let the caller know if you are alone in your office or dorm room.

Residence Hall students receiving harassing telephone calls should contact their Complex Director. The Complex Director will contact the UO Police Department.

All other users who receive harassing telephone calls should contact the UO Police Department at 541-346-2919. If you receive harassing voice mail, DO NOT erase it until instructed to do so by UOPD. The information contained in the message header may help identify the caller.

Placing harassing telephone calls violates the University of Oregon guidelines and is a crime under federal and state laws. Persons placing such calls are subject to fines, imprisonment and/or University issued sanctions (including expulsion).
