Using Avaya Telephone Features
Classes of Service

By use of a "Class of Service" (COS), we are able to assign certain features and restrictions to each individual extension.

  1. A variety of features and/or restrictions are grouped together and can be assigned to more than one extension.
  2. While we currently have approximately 50 Class of Service groups set up, below is a list of the most frequently used groups and the features/restrictions that are included with each.
COR/COS Description/Restrictions
02/02 Student Basic - No Recall Tone, may have Abr. Dial. Any call, which generates charges, must be dialed with an Authorization Code or Credit Card
03/03 Student Service with Call Waiting/Hold and Recall Tone. Any call, which generates charges, must be dialed with an Authorization Code or Credit Card
06/06 Hot Line -- Lift handset and be automatically connected to number
07/07 Voice Mail Only -- Bulletin Boards, Auto Attendants and requires permanent call coverage path 960/980
08/08 Campus Only Courtesy -- extension to extension on this PBX only.
09/09 Courtesy & GTF Phones -- Can call UO campus & local calling area, but any call which generates a charge must be dialed with an authorization code or credit card.

Can have access to features such as call forwarding, voice mail, call coverage, etc.

11/11 General Departmental Line -- can call UO campus, local calling area, 12 digit numbers to other campuses, but any other call which generates a charges must be dialed with an authorization code or credit card.

Can have access to features such as call forwarding, voice mail, call coverage, etc. This will be standard for the majority of single line and digital primary lines.

12/11 OPX -- switch extension which is extended over an OPX to a remote location. Similar to 11/11, but with OPX attributes.
13/11 MODEM, fax or Data -- data protection & no distinctive alerting, can call UO campus, local calling area, 12 digit numbers to other campuses, but any other call which generates a charges must be dialed with an authorization code or credit card.

No need to access most features and voice mail, but either call coverage path or station hunting if the line is part of a modem or fax pool.

14/11 MODEM, fax or Data -- data protection & no distinctive alerting, can call UO campus, local calling area, 12 digit numbers to other campuses, and any call which generates a charges will be billed directly to the phone line (i.e. do not need an authorization code or credit card to place a call).

No need to access most features and voice mail, but either call coverage path or station hunting if the line is part of a modem or fax pool.

15/11 ACD Agent -- similar to 11/11 but with access to ACD features
16/ ACD Supervisor -- similar to 11/11 but with access to ACD features
24/ Termination Restricted -- local calling outward, no incoming. Good choice for a courtesy phone which should not receive incoming calls
28/10 Local Restrict -- access to long distance operator, but need an authorization code to access local calling area and long distance. Rather like a payphone.

On Single line phones: FLASH, RECALL, TAP, & R all indicate the same button. Any single line set without this button will have to use the Switchhook button instead.
